Future Sand (Left and Right Hands)

A “memento mori” diptych created from a 4-inch colored pencil drawing that was scanned, blown up, and converted to embroidery pattern. The shells-turned-cliffs take on a monumental scale that dwarfs the viewer while the intricate detail of the gridded symbols draws them closer.

It's not two different seashells; it’s the same shell, turned.

I’m interested in alternating viewing; the eyes focus sharply on coded language at close range, then want to blur back to make sense of form and shape. You’re standing too close. The body follows the eyes, and a dance begins. In meditation, sometimes stillness can come through intentionally blurring the vision.
